MEET OUR CLINICIANS

Leon Daley, M.A., CCC-SLP

Leon Daley is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, endoscopist, and co-owner/co-founder of Daley Dysphagia Diagnostics. 

Leon’s interest in the medical world of Speech-Language Pathology started when he was working as a pharmacy technician, allowing him to identify side effects of certain medications to the swallowing mechanism. 

Since then, Leon obtained his Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA and became a Speech-Language Pathologist after graduating from the University of Central Florida with both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

Initially trained by Dr. Eric Blicker, Leon later obtained additional first-hand instruction in endoscopy and interpretation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a nationally recognized facility. Leon has provided numerous inservices to facilities and clinical staff across the country to discuss swallowing, swallowing disorders, and aid with FEES training. Leon is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic.

He is a member of the ASHA Special Interest Group 13 (Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders) and is certified in neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). 

Athanasia Anna Svenning Daley, M.A., CCC-SLP

Athanasia Svenning is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist, endoscopist, and co-owner/co-founder of Daley Dysphagia Diagnostics.

She graduated with her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Central Florida. She has been a visiting guest lecturer at the University of Central Florida through the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association on the topic of swallowing, swallowing disorders, and FEES. 

While having worked with a variety of populations at some of the best hospitals in the country (including Cleveland Clinic, UCSF Medical Center, and New York Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia University Irving Medical Center), Athanasia has taken special interest in dementia, pediatrics, acid reflux, and patients with tracheostomies requiring ventilatory support.

She is a member of the ASHA Special Interest Group 13 (Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders), Dysphagia Research Society, Dysphagia Research Society’s Pediatric Special Interest Group, Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists, and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. Athanasia serves as a mentor through the ASHA Leadership Mentoring Program and has been recognized by ASHA for her clinical excellence and continuing education having received the Early Career Professional Award and Award for Continuing Education, respectively.
